Drilling back up boards

ASMETEC offers a wide range of drilling back-up boards for almost every application.

The back-up boards of the METOBACK series are based on high density wood fibre boards
without addition of oak- or beech wood, as dust of these woods can cause lung cancer when breathed in.
All our drilling back-up boards are manufactured on flat press lines with additional cooling line to achieve
best possible flatness and tightest thickness tolerances of all panels and sheets

Based on the long term experience of the ASMETEC-Team and in cooperation with technicians
of both customers and wood panel manufacturers we have developed new drilling materials to suit
the rapidly growing technical demands of this challenging branch.

The new back-up boards of series METOBACK (uncoated) and METODRILL (coated both sides)
are designed for drilling modern pcb layouts and laminates and are recommended by leading tool-
and drill machine manufacturers.

METOBACK MB-25:

2,5 mm thick, high density, uncoated drilling back-up board with sanded surface for excellent flatness and tightest thickness tolerance. Recommended for all standard drilling applications.

METOBACK HD-25 è to top

2,5 mm thick, extra high density, uncoated drilling back-up board with glossy extra hardened surface for excellent flatness and lowest possible exit burrs for uncoated back-up boards. Recommended for all standard drilling applications.

METODRILL MD-24 è to top

METODRILL MD-24 is our latest designed high efficiency drilling back-up board for highest demands
on drilling quality. Similar to our MEL-25 melamine faced back-up but with important advantages:

- Thickness 2,4 mm with tolerance -0,1/+0,1
- Core density > 950 kg/cbm, so it remains flat even in bad climate conditions
- Grinded melamine surface for less burrs
METODRILL MD is recommended for drilling high quality PCB, Multilayers, Innerlayers and high drill stacks.

METODRILL MEL-25 è to top

2,5 mm thick, high density, white melamine paper coated both sides, for excellent reduction of burrs
along with extended drill bit life due to a special softened melamine coating.
Suitable for all drilling diameters, recommended for drilling multilayers, inner layers, back panels etc.

METODRILL MC-25 è to top

MC-25 is based on the same wood core as MEL-25.

But unlike MEL-25 the melamine coating is given to a light brown recycling paper, leaving the abrasive Titanium Dioxide.
This makes MC-25 much less abrasive than MEL-25 and the light brown shaded surface colour.
Your drills life time extends up to 20% if using MC-25!
METODRILL MD is recommended for drilling high quality PCB, Multilayers, Innerlayers and high drill stacks.

METODRILL PH-Series è to top

The METODRILL PH series is available in material thicknesses from 0,2 to 12.0 mm.
METODRILL PH are paper laminates with fully cured modified phenolic resins as bonding agents.
In material thickness 1.5 and 2.0 mm find them to application as drilling back-up board, in thickness from 6.0 mm
METODRILL PH is used as routing back-up.

The thinner laminates within the range of 0.8 mm and 0,3 mm serve as drill entry board and routing entry,
in particular with the processing of problematic materials such as PTFE or Aramid. Additionally, as entry board
for contact drilling of blind vias, whereby the zero point is put on the upper copper layer of the laminate.
